Om mani padme hum (In Sanskrit ओं मणिपद्मे हूं Oṃ maṇi padme hūṃ) is a six-syllable mantra associated with the bodhisattva of compassion Avalokiteshvara (Sanskrit) or Chenrezig (Tibetan). In particular shape is associated with four arms Shadakshari of Avalokiteshvara. It is the most famous mantra of Buddhism and Hinduism. It is said that the Dalai Lama is an incarnation of Avalokiteshvara, therefore this mantra is especially revered by his followers.
